UNI Hosiery Installation

In August of 2001 we installed a central vacuum system in UNI Hosiery in Huntington Park CA. They were running 72 Angie Knitting machines, each with a 1.5KW blower motor. These motors are 2 HP each for a total of 144 Horsepower in the building. Their cost for a Kilowatt of power was 15.7 cents. The power to operate these blowers was extremely high.

The knitting vacuum system that we designed and built consisted of a 100HP blower and all the ducts necessary to have vacuum at the machines. On this system we installed a Variable Speed Drive to control the motor of the vacuum blower. This allows us to change the speed of the motor to raise or lower the vacuum and achieve the desired suction.

When the system was completed and running, we maintained a drawdown of 25" of vacuum at the machines with a total running horsepower of approximately 45. The savings from reducing the power load will pay for this system in a short period of time. As an additional benefit, there are no blowers in the floor to step over and become a trip hazard. The temperature in the room is also less.

Give us a call and let us design a cost cutting system for your plant.

String Collection Systems

Our company has developed a collection system to collect strings from Knitting machines that allows the machines to operate 24 hours per day with out stopping to clean out a container.

Our container is built to rigid standards to maintain integrity and operate without stopping up the screen. The screens in the containers are continuously self-cleaning and need only be inspected occasionally. The screen can be replaced if necessary. We can also supply these in several materials with different size mesh to fit the application. The air from the container can be returned to the knitting room with little or no filtration needed.
